100th Post...and a giveaway, of course!

When I started this blog over a year ago I really didn't think that I would ever make it to 100 posts.  That seemed like such a high number and I really never thought that I'd find anything to write about and my interest would trail off, as it usually does with most projects I start (um, hello, have you seen my WIP basket?!).

Well, there have certainly been times (such as the last couple weeks!) when I've completely fallen off the face of earth, when I haven't had the physical or mental energy to put words onto the page.  But overall, I've come to rely on this blogging experience as a way of connecting to a community of people who I wouldn't have otherwise known existed.  It's been so great knowing that I'm not the only yarn hoarder out there or knowing I'm not the only person who thinks about knitting 24 hours a day...that's right, even when I'm asleep.

As a thank you for being faithful readers of my little ol' blog and for also providing me with wonderful blogs to read every day, I'm having a giveaway to celebrate my 100th post.

In honor of spring, I've chosen three different sock yarns in various shades of green.  I noticed little buds on the trees just today and the sun is shining...so I felt the need to celebrate by giving away some spring-inspired yarn!  They're all in shades of green, a color I hope to be seeing a lot more of in the coming weeks.

The first yarn is Valley Yarns Franklin Hand-Dyed in a colorway whose name escapes me at the moment.  The colors range from bright kelly green to a blue-ish teal....mmmmm, lovely.

The next skein is Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in the Pea Soup Mix colorway.  I'm currently in love with this yarn, as it's my chosen shade for the Socks Revived Contest that I've entered.  I had an extra skein hanging around, so I thought I would share my obsession for this particular shade of green.

And the final skein is Rabbit Ridge Super Soxx in the Leaves colorway from Rabbit Ridge Designs, a local Alaskan dyer out of Anchorage.  It varies in hue from very light celery green to a forest green.
And here they are all snuggled up together.  Don't you just want to take them home?

Well....you can!  Or at least you can enter for the chance to take them home.  ;)

There are three ways to enter my 100th post yarn giveaway:

1. Leave me a comment telling me what your favorite sign of spring is and you'll receive your first contest entry.

2. Become a follower of my blog and let me know this in a separate comment and earn a second entry.

3. Blog about my giveaway on your own blog and then come back and tell me about it in a comment and you'll receive a third entry.

**DEADLINE to enter is April 7 at midnight Alaska Time.**

I do hope you'll enter.  Thanks for sticking with me through 100 posts....and here's to 100 more!

  142. We are on the opposite side of the world to you, so it will be a long while before we have any signs of spring around here. Watching for signs of autumn at the moment. When it is spring time I watch for bluebells though - a bit like your grape hyacinths but bigger. The big park in my hometown has a huge bluebell dell all planted out, and DH and I had some of our wedding photos taken there. Little did I know that the garden in the house we bought would be riddled with bluebell bulbs - they are tenacious wee things, and prolific too, so there are baby bluebell bulbs everywhere.

  153. My favorite sign of spring here in North Texas is the flowering mountain laurel. Beautiful glossy, deep green leaves crowned by bouquets of rich purple blossoms that smell like grape Koolaid. Absolutely lovely confirmation that spring has sprung and that sweltering summer is only weeks behind :)

  154. My top of the list spring sight is the trusty Robin. Once I see this bird pulling worms out of the ground, I know spring is here!

Gorgeous colors on those skeins btw! :)

  156. Spring for me is when the bluebells are out in the woods, at the house where I grew up. Nowadays, spring in London is marked by the appearance of first Jersey Royals and stems of asparagus in the shops and the markets. Spring in London is about going out without a coat on - and then getting caught in a shower, but not minding too much because it's not all that cold any more, actually.
What lovely green yarn, I'll be crossing my fingers!

  160. My favorite signs of spring are watching the green buds spring out of the ground, straining to open in the warm sunshine. After that, waiting for my magnolia tree to come to life with its beautiful pink petals.

  161. my favorite sign of spring is the seemingly overnight appearance of leaves on willow trees. They are the first trees in my area (utah) to "turn on" and even from a distance you can see the green. It gives hope that the brown and tan and gray will give way one day...

  162. My favorite sign of spring are the robins hopping around in the yard looking for worms.

  163. My favorite sign of spring is, hands down, hearing the birds in the bush outside my window chirping when I wake up, or even better, being woken up by the little chirps directly outside. I love it! :-)

  178. My favorite sign of spring?!? Well since as you know spring in Alaska means snow and more snow this year (at least in Homer) I guess it would be the budding rhubarb peeking out from the frosty earth!

  179. I don't know if you can call it a sign of spring, but I love the day each spring when I realize that it's finally warm enough to roll down the windows and crank up the radio on my drive home from work. It makes me SO happy!

What I remember from many years in Soldotna is going to work in frigid cold but going out at noon to warm sunshine. I usually wore my sandals and handknit sock, forgetting about breakup!

My favorite sign of Spring is when the spring birds return to our mountains. We have Robins, Flickers, Bluebirds and many others that show up at the feeder. :)
