Well, there have certainly been times (such as the last couple weeks!) when I've completely fallen off the face of earth, when I haven't had the physical or mental energy to put words onto the page. But overall, I've come to rely on this blogging experience as a way of connecting to a community of people who I wouldn't have otherwise known existed. It's been so great knowing that I'm not the only yarn hoarder out there or knowing I'm not the only person who thinks about knitting 24 hours a day...that's right, even when I'm asleep.
As a thank you for being faithful readers of my little ol' blog and for also providing me with wonderful blogs to read every day, I'm having a giveaway to celebrate my 100th post.
In honor of spring, I've chosen three different sock yarns in various shades of green. I noticed little buds on the trees just today and the sun is shining...so I felt the need to celebrate by giving away some spring-inspired yarn! They're all in shades of green, a color I hope to be seeing a lot more of in the coming weeks.
The first yarn is Valley Yarns Franklin Hand-Dyed in a colorway whose name escapes me at the moment. The colors range from bright kelly green to a blue-ish teal....mmmmm, lovely.
The next skein is Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in the Pea Soup Mix colorway. I'm currently in love with this yarn, as it's my chosen shade for the Socks Revived Contest that I've entered. I had an extra skein hanging around, so I thought I would share my obsession for this particular shade of green.
And the final skein is Rabbit Ridge Super Soxx in the Leaves colorway from Rabbit Ridge Designs, a local Alaskan dyer out of Anchorage. It varies in hue from very light celery green to a forest green.
And here they are all snuggled up together. Don't you just want to take them home?
Well....you can! Or at least you can enter for the chance to take them home. ;)
There are three ways to enter my 100th post yarn giveaway:
1. Leave me a comment telling me what your favorite sign of spring is and you'll receive your first contest entry.
2. Become a follower of my blog and let me know this in a separate comment and earn a second entry.
3. Blog about my giveaway on your own blog and then come back and tell me about it in a comment and you'll receive a third entry.
**DEADLINE to enter is April 7 at midnight Alaska Time.**
I do hope you'll enter. Thanks for sticking with me through 100 posts....and here's to 100 more!

ReplyDeleteI love how you can feel the shift in the weather as spring approaches, can`t really describe it but perhaps its because the sun is out more or the sky is just a bit more blue.

I know it's far to post, but it's suprisingly not as expensive as you think to mail a lightweight package of gorgeous yarn to Israel! And they're my favorite colors and we don't get lush gorgeous yarns here.... I have to admit that I love spring, the baby green color of the leaves are my favorite. But it always makes me sad that winter's over. Summer is way too hot here and way too long!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 100th blog! It's been lovely getting to know you! x

ReplyDeleteMy favorite sign of spring is the forsythia, then the lilacs. But often the lilacs get bit by frost and don't bloom, so you know extra special when they do...I am holding my breath for this year.
ReplyDeleteI already follow you in Google Reader, too!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sign of spring is when I see robins in my yard. Sometimes I hear them but can't see them. In that case I tend to walk the neighborhood until I find one. Then I know spring has truely arrived.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite sign of spring is when you get that first really warm day outside. At first you're all crossed up because you started the day wearing a sweater and a coat, but now desperately need to change into your shorts and you have NO IDEA WHERE THEY ARE!!! So instead you send the kids outside in their underwear and turn on the hose for them, and roll up sleeves and pants to sit and soak up the beautiful warm sunshine! Ahhh. (In case you're wondering, we did that today and it was awesome.)
ReplyDeleteYou're yarn is so beautiful I can't believe you want to give it away :).
My favorite sign of spring is the summer knitting patterns coming out! No, seriously, it is the maples coming into bloom. Or the red winged blackbirds. Or maybe the willows tips turning yellow. Heck, I love 'em all.

ReplyDeleteWe are on the opposite side of the world to you, so it will be a long while before we have any signs of spring around here. Watching for signs of autumn at the moment. When it is spring time I watch for bluebells though - a bit like your grape hyacinths but bigger. The big park in my hometown has a huge bluebell dell all planted out, and DH and I had some of our wedding photos taken there. Little did I know that the garden in the house we bought would be riddled with bluebell bulbs - they are tenacious wee things, and prolific too, so there are baby bluebell bulbs everywhere.
ReplyDeleteDaffodils and pussy willows always remind me of spring growing up on the Washington coast.

Spring for me is when the bluebells are out in the woods, at the house where I grew up. Nowadays, spring in London is marked by the appearance of first Jersey Royals and stems of asparagus in the shops and the markets. Spring in London is about going out without a coat on - and then getting caught in a shower, but not minding too much because it's not all that cold any more, actually.
