A Work in Progress...

I made some significant headway on my crafty nook over the weekend, which I would have blogged about sooner had I not been hit with a thankfully short bout of the flu.

It looks basically the same as it did when I started, but things got hairy there for a while because I knew that it would have to get worse before it got better.

In the end, I didn't get a shot of the current state of the room, but rest assured that it was put through the ringer, being torn apart and then put back together again.  Here is a shot of the middle of all the organization, from my perch on the sofa:
This weekend Jeff and I will be headed to the hardware store to pick out some lumber so that he can build me some yarn shelves...the kind that will let me arrange it by color and have it on display for show and inspiration!  I'll definitely keep you all in the loop as we move along with the room.

Now, I had kind of given myself a pep talk about how as I went through and organized the stash that I would weed out some of the yarn that I absolutely knew I wouldn't ever use so that I could destash it here on the blog or on Ravelry.

But what I wasn't prepared for was the ease at which I threw yarn into the destash pile!  I've been feeling too bogged down in "stuff" lately and I guess that carried through to my destash process.  I've flashed my stash before (see here...funny that it was almost a year to the day that I did this!), so you know how much yarn I've hoarded over the years.  But I've finally come to the point where I know that some of it needs to go to a home where it will be loved, appreciated, and used within the next 20 years.

Drum roll please....dadadadadadadadadada.....(yes, that's a drumroll noise....)

Here is all the yarn that I have decided to part with!  Four tubs and one laundry basket full!
Ranging from laceweight to bulky, the yarn pictured here will one day soon be headed to new homes!  I will be photographing it all over the next few days and will be releasing it in small batches, because if I posted it all at once, I think I'd crash the blog with too many photos. ;)

So, keep an eye out soon for some smokin' hot deals on some really great yarn that is looking for new owners!  It's DestashFest 2011!

  4. Wow, that's amazing! It's a great feeling to get rid of all that yarn, isn't it? I gave six big paper grocery bags of crazy assorted novelty yarns to a friend last summer. She makes amazing beaded and silk-lined purses from the stuff...and you'd never, ever know it was Fun Fur. You may be inspiring me to part with more...
