So, I had my first print design and I'm super excited about it...even though I am dreadfully behind in posting. Procrastination and I have become intimately acquainted over the last few months....oh, who am I kidding? We've been BFFs for a really long time.
With this design, I wanted to create something simple, rustic, but with a bit of a twist. Simplicity comes with the cables and 2x2 rib and the twist comes in with the cables unraveling in a diagonal fashion as the mitten body moves into the cuff.
I was so happy when Interweave chose to use the yarn I used in my swatch (Blue Sky Alpacas Melange), because I felt it really contributed to the feel of the design. While I used an amazing mustard yellow for my swatch, I was absolutely thrilled when I was sent a deep red for the sample. Be still my heart.

Congrats! Lovely design!! I have been procrastinating in putting off a phone call to an old friend. Sad, I know, but I hate the phone - wish she used email!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! When I saw that I said to myself "I now her!" As if chatting on the internet makes us best buds! I love the mittens.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your design! So exciting to see someone from Alaska in my favorite magazine!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely design. I've been procrastinating on writing up my own mitten pattern to get it test knit. I have to get that done soon, definitely before winter kicks in here in NZ.
ReplyDeleteIronically I've been procrastinating on choosing a new project to knit with stash yarn.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the giveaway is international! I've been procrastinating on many thing... doing the dishes, organising my teaching materials, ringing up schools about relief work... the list is long!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting into print! What am I procrastinating on? Well, taxes. I know it's still early yet, but it's kind of like knitting for holiday gifts... if you don't start in July, you're never going to get anything done in time!
ReplyDeletei just found this blog tonight and i am very happy to have come across this one. Beautiful mittens! I've been procrastinating writing on the blog for about two weeks now, mainly because I can't be bothered to take any new photos now that it's so dark all the time! At least the light is slowly coming back though! And right now I'm also procrastinating cleaning the kitchen...
ReplyDeleteCongrats! It looks like a great pattern! I've been procrastinating on finishing a sweater I'm working on.

ReplyDeleteI have been procrastinating on finishing my wip, procrastinating on spring cleaning (last spring that is), procrastinating on planning the garden, procrastinating on buying or finding in the closet something to wear to meet the new governor of our formerly fine state and am now procrastinating on making pizza dough so we can have pizza to celebrate the superbowl and dds acceptance to the the college of her dreams.

Congratulations! I've been procrastinating all weekend, I've got a big old project to do for school that I simply could not seem to get myself started on. But loads of coffee later (and a few blog breaks) and I'm nearly finished!
ReplyDeleteGreat result! I'm procrastinating on completing the index on my book so it can be published... I'm also having trouble completing the neckline on my Eriskay jumper... but mainly I'm procrastinating on putting my workroom into some order!

I am so proud of you!!! I can now say I know a famous person and she grew up with my daughter. What fun. Your knitting is amazing and I love to see all your projects. I sure don't do what you do but I am obsessed with it as you. Congratulations and good luck with your procrastination. Molly Lloyd
ReplyDeleteYour first published pattern....Congratulations!! Love the pattern. I've been procrastinating finishing a quilt that I started about a year ago. I'm not loving it, so it's hard to keep going when I have knitting, spinning and weaving calling to me!
ReplyDeleteJoanne (globallooping on rav)
Hey, congrats! :) I already have this issue. I'll check out your design, for sure. Good to see you back!
ReplyDeleteI love that pattern! Congrats on getting in to Interweave. =)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your pattern! I think "procrastinate" is my middle name.
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern! I would love to win the kit. Thanks! Debbie H
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern! When don't I procrastinate? However, one thing pops into my head... A bag that needs to be felted and the i-cord that needs to be completed. Both have been sitting on my guest room bed for about 9 months! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love this pattern and the colour of the yarn. I procrastinate about housework... But no one ever died of dust. Jen
ReplyDeleteI procrastinate with sewing projects....that comforter I'm piecing and need to finish and tie...because I'd rather be knitting. I like the ribbing that becomes cables...each in their own time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Beautiful mittens!
ReplyDeleteLot's of knitting projects to procrastinate with here ;)
Congratulations on your pattern! It is very beautifull!
ReplyDeleteI am procastinating right now here in your blog, I should be working but I can not!
It is better stay here, isn't it?! :-P But I know, I need working.
Kisses
Sandra
Well, I did not procrastinate in diving in and making your mittens! I loved them as soon as I spotted them in Interweave Knits and knew that I had to make them for my daughter's 24th birthday!! I knew that she would love them and she did! It was a great gift for her. I used Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted. My LYS did not have the Melange in the color that you had used and my heart was set on that color or something similar. I would love to win the kit to make a pair for myself now! I have to admit that they were a little hard to give away after I knit them!
ReplyDeletePick me!!! Oh please pick me, have been meaning to knit these!
ReplyDeleteKim
My list is long too. Thanks for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat darling mittens, I am procastinating by reading your fun blog-I should be cleaning my house for a class that is being held here this weekend...much more fun entering your giveaway.
