Yep, I'm still here, although I haven't had the mental or even physical energy to blog lately. I'm drowning in my day job and things don't seem to be letting up anytime soon. 12-14 hour workdays are really cutting into my design and creation time.
BUT, I do have one thing to share. An awesome gal in my hometown does some AMAZING things with photography and she posted some photos this morning of the Annual Memorial Day Haas Fly-in. Every Memorial Day (and Labor Day as well) my family puts on a big pancake breakfast and people drive and fly from all over to join in the fun. These events have become quite the tradition in Bainbridge and it's one of the biggest things I miss about Ohio.

I LOVE the picture of my nephew, Jackson, in his aviator hat. Also, there is a photo in there of my dad smiling...a rare sight indeed!
Enjoy!

A Little Bit Quiet Lately
Yes, the summer tourist season has begun, which means I have absolutely zero time to devote to anything other than trains. *sigh*
But, last week I did manage to send off my very first design submission! I was so nervous to drop it in the mail! I'm excited at the prospect of my designing taking a step in the positive direction, but I also am a little bit afraid of my work being judged. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
Other than that, nothing much new going on in the knitting/crochet/weaving world. I'm trying hard to fit in some weaving whenever I can so that I can get the (probably awful) shawl made from Cascade Jewel off the loom. I have some amazing sock yarns that I've been dying to try out on the loom, but I have been dragging my feet finishing the shawl that's currently on there because I really think it's going to turn out badly. But, that's what I thought about the other one and it wasn't too bad. I just need to get focus and get it done. It shouldn't take me more than an evening to finish it, but I'm procrastinating like usual.
Last night I tried to dust off my Hemlock Ring Blanket that's been hiding at the bottom of my knitting pile so that I could do a little bit of mindless repeats. BUT, when I picked it up like 5 spiders came skittering out of it! I was so creeped out that I just left it in the corner, but I know I'll need to take it outside and shake it out. Uck. What if they've made babies?!
We usually get invaded by spiders each spring, but they've never gotten into my knitting. I guess that tells you how little I've been knitting lately!
